THE NEW POPE
Dopo il successo di “The Young Pope”, il premio Oscar Paolo Sorrentino torna a dirigere il secondo capitolo della serie, The New Pope, che vede la presenza, oltre a Jude Law, anche di John Malkovich.
Pio XIII è in coma. E dopo una parentesi imprevedibile quanto misteriosa, il Segretario di Stato Voiello riesce nell’impresa di far salire al soglio pontificio Sir John Brannox, un aristocratico inglese moderato, affascinante e sofisticato che prende il nome di Giovanni Paolo III.
Il nuovo Papa sembra perfetto, ma cela fragilità e segreti. E capisce subito che sarà difficile prendere il posto del carismatico Pio XIII: sospeso tra la vita e la morte Lenny Belardo è diventato un Santo e sono ormai migliaia i fedeli che lo idolatrano alimentando un contrasto tra i fondamentalismi. La Chiesa intanto è aggredita da scandali che rischiano di travolgere in modo irreversibile le alte gerarchie, e da minacce esterne che colpiscono i simboli della cristianità. Come al solito, però, in Vaticano niente è come appare. Il bene e il male vanno a braccetto incontro alla Storia. E per arrivare al redde rationem bisognerà aspettare che gli eventi facciano il loro corso…
Per le riprese in Veneto di The New Pope, Wildside ha siglato un contratto di produzione esecutiva con 360 Degrees Film. Numerose sono le scene girate in Veneto grazie al contributo concesso dalla Regione Veneto- POR FESR 2014-2020. Azione 3.3.2. la cui finalità è quella di sostenere le produzioni audiovisive mediante contributi riconosciuti ai sensi del Regolamento UE n. 651/2014 della Commissione del 17 giugno 2014. Il contributo concesso è stato di Euro 677.246,98.

Pius XIII is in a coma. After an unpredictable as well as mysterious parenthesis, the Secretary of State Voiello succeeds in the enterprise of bringing Sir John Brannox, a moderate, charming and sophisticated English aristocrat who takes the name of John Paul III to the papal throne.
The new Pope seems perfect, but hides fragility and secrets. He immediately understands that it will be difficult to take the place of the charismatic Pius XIII: suspended between life and death Lenny Belardo has become a Saint and thousands of faithful are now idolizing him fueling a contrast between fundamentalisms. Meanwhile, the Church is attacked by scandals that risk overwhelming the high hierarchies, and by external threats that affect the symbols of Christianity. As usual, however, in the Vatican nothing is as it appears. Good and evil go hand in hand to meet History. And to get to the redde rationem we will have to wait for events to run their course …
For the filming in Veneto of The New Pope, Wildside has signed an executive production contract with 360 Degrees Film. A lot scenes were filmed in Veneto thanks to the contribution granted by the Veneto Region – POR FESR 2014-2020. Action 3.3.2. whose purpose is to support audiovisual productions through contributions recognized pursuant to EU Regulation no. 651/2014 of the Commission of 17 June 2014. The granted contribution was of Euro 677.246,98.
